Location! Location! Location!

So...pretty much everyone knows that when opening a business, location is the number one thing to consider.Location can make or break a business. Placing a fine dinning restaurant in the middle of a poverty stricken community probably isn't going be successful because the people who live near it cant afford to eat there and the people who can will not go there because of where it is located. That wasn't the best of examples but you get my gist.

I am a freshman college student and having stores near by is important to me because i would rather walk there than drive. I do have my car here but I'm a BROKE college student who doesn't want to spend the little bit of money i have on gas. On that note, I decided to analysis the location of a nearby store that I find myself entering at least once a week--Walgreen's. I attend UNCG and there is a Walgreen's on the corner of Spring Garden St. and Aycock St. There are many advantages and disadvantages of this Walgreen's.

Advantages include:

  • Location close to the campus
  • Variety
  • Only one nearby competitor(CVS)
Disadvantages include:
  • It is a long walk from my dorm!
  • The prices
  • Traffic at the intersection
This Walgreen's obviously has a high amount of pedestrian traffic because there are so many college students who are just like me; we don't want to drive. (Actually, we must park our cars so far away from our dorms that by the time we get to our cars, we might as well continue walking because we would more then half way there!) With such a large amount of their customer's being pedestrians, parking isn't a problem. Even when I do drive I don't have any problem parking. Is this a good location? Yes I believe it is. It is extremely convenient to the students of UNCG and convenience is always great (at least to me, it is).
